About RecollectKits
A place to catalog your football shirts and keep the stories that come with them.
Every shirt in a collection carries something a catalog entry cannot hold. Where you were. Who you were with. Why you had to have it. RecollectKits is built to keep those, right alongside the shirt itself.
One of mine
A shirt from a night in Dublin
A few years ago I took my first trip to Ireland, and I went to my first football match on European soil: St Patrick's Athletic against Shelbourne, a Dublin derby. I had no side in it. I wasn't there for either team. I was there for the game itself.
You walk in and there are no assigned seats. You find a spot. I ended up behind the net, standing with people who had clearly stood in that same place for years, and I listened to the chants roll around the ground. I bought a St Pat's shirt before kickoff, and I have carried that night with me every time I have worn it since.
That shirt only holds immense value to me. Tied to a moment.
Why I built this
I have collected kits for years. For a long time they lived where most collections live, folded in drawers and stacked in a closet, remembered only when I went looking for one. I could tell you the story behind every single one, but the story lived in my head and nowhere else.
I built this in Western New York, between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, where hockey and football rule the winters and soccer is still finding its place. There is something fitting about giving the beautiful game a home this close to one of the most beautiful sights on earth. That is where the collection started, and it is where RecollectKits started too.
I went looking for a good way to catalog them, and I could not find one that took the story as seriously as the shirt. So I started building it.
Two things mattered to me from the start.
The first is small clubs. Some of the most beautiful kits in the world come from clubs you would otherwise never hear about, and those are the shirts that get lost first in a sea of the same few big names. That St Pat's shirt is one of them. RecollectKits gives clubs like that the same shelf space as anyone else.
The second is that collecting has its own logic. I have a rule: every year Real Madrid win the Champions League, the next kit I buy is the one worn by the best player on the pitch that night, so I end up with the standout performer and the new Champions League patch on the sleeve. Last time it was Carvajal. Nobody handed me that rule. It is just mine. My opinion on who played well enough to earn a spot in my collection. Every collector has a few like it, and a good catalog should have room for them.
The mark: our Supporters' Ring
Our logo is a ring of eight kit collars with the center dot at its heart, framed by the corners of a pitch. Every part of it was drawn to mean something. Take a look.
Your kits. Your story. Recollected. Your kits are the collars. Your story is the memory in each one. Recollected is all of them brought together in one place: the ring, the platform.
What we are building toward
- A proper catalog for the world’s football shirts, small clubs included.
- Tools to record not just what a kit is, but its history and its story: where it came from, the match it is tied to, who wore it before you.
- A place for collectors to find each other.
